NV Energy hosted electric car Ride ‘n Drive events in both Reno and Las Vegas during October 2018. Attendees were able to test drive electric cars from multiple automotive manufacturers, including Tesla, GM, Nissan, Fiat, Mitsubishi, and BMW.

These included the most recent model years of the Tesla Models 3, S, and X; as well as the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid, Nissan LEAF, Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid, BMW i3, and Fiat 500e.

Tesla Model S, Chevrolet Volt, Fiat 500e and BMW i3 queue up for test drives in Las Vegas at NV Energy campus parking lot.

Interested participants signed up and registered online at the Electric Car Guest Drive website, where they could reserve a one-hour block of time to test drive up to three vehicles:

Over 200 people attended each of the events in Reno and Las Vegas.

Support was provided by employees of Electric Car Insider magazine, as well as local members of the Electric Auto Association chapters at each location: Electric Auto Association of Northern Nevada and Las Vegas Electric Vehicle Association.

The events also drew support from local Tesla Owners’ groups in both regions, who provided vehicles for both test drives and for static displays.

Static displays of Tesla Model X, Chevrolet Volt, Tesla Model 3, and Nissan LEAF allowed attendees to talk in detail with owners about each vehicle.

In the static display areas, the owners of each vehicle could describe their cars’ specifications, as well as their personal day-to-day experiences involved with driving, recharging, and maintenance.
